Which guide should you read first?
New players: rules, then first word
Even people who know English Wordle get caught out once in their first Korean game. Colours are not given per letter: the two syllables are split into six cells — initial, medial and final — and each cell gets its own colour. If you are new, start with "Rules" to see how scoring works, then read "First Word Tips" to decide how to fill your first row.
The rules guide collects the situations that actually confuse people, with examples: the empty cell under a syllable without a final consonant, the colour when the same letter appears twice, and how compound vowels and double finals are scored. Both guides take about five minutes.
There is a reason for this order. Every rule for picking a first word — finals in both syllables, no repeated letters, simple vowels — comes from how scoring works. Once the rules guide has shown you why an empty final cell costs you and why a grey compound vowel tells you little, the first-word advice makes sense without memorising it.
Daily players: review with answers and stats
If you already play every day, you improve by reviewing. After midnight Korean time, the answer page for the previous day opens with the distribution of how many tries everyone needed. "Today's Answer" explains when answer pages open and what they show; "Answer Stats" shows how to read the distribution bars, average and solve rate to check your own solving.
A simple weekly routine works well: once a week, open the answer pages for the days you needed the most tries, and compare your try count with that day's distribution. Bad luck shows up as one odd day; a habit worth fixing shows up as the same pattern across several days.
Guides marked "Coming soon" below are not published yet. Topics such as common letters, emoji sharing and keyboard setup will be filled in one by one, and each opens from this list once it is live.
Questions about the guides
- Who writes the guides?
- The QuizLab team writes and reviews them against the game's actual scoring, hint and stats code. When a rule changes, the guide's last-updated date changes with it.
- How many guides can I read now?
- Four are published: Rules, Today's Answer, First Word Tips and Answer Stats. The eight guides in progress are listed by title only and cannot be opened until they go live.
- Is there a guide that reveals today's answer?
- No. Everyone plays the same word, so today's answer is only published on the answer page after midnight. The guides cover how to solve, not what the answer is.
After reading, practise with past words
Tips from the guides rarely stick from one daily game. Today's puzzle is once a day, so play a few more past words from the replay screen. Replays are not mixed into that day's stats or your streak, so you can try a new first word without pressure.
To share a result, use the share button in the result window. The text contains only your try count (for example 오늘의 낱말 3/6), a grid of blue, orange and grey squares and the QuizLab address — never the answer itself. Cells with no letter to score, under syllables without a final consonant, appear as black squares, so the grid matches the on-screen rows exactly.
